All informed marketers and advertising guru’s will agree: “It’s only a matter of time before Quick Response (QR) Codes will be old news.” Are QR codes failing because people don’t understand the technology? Maybe the tech cycle is moving too quickly and QR codes are innocent bystanders that are caught in a fast moving mobile economy.

The experts at MobilizeMe are surprised at such allegations and believe that it’s not their fault! QR codes are failing because marketers do not understand how they were intended to be used. There are countless examples of companies (big and small) that think themselves as experts and trendsetters but do not understand that QR codes were meant to link traditional print to an optimized mobile space. Just because you found a QR code generator online that is free and easy doesn’t mean you should put it on your marketing material. You need a strategy!!! You cannot fit an elephant up a squirrels butt. QR codes are meant to be a fun and sexy way to ease mobile users onto a world of smartphone browsing.

Will QR codes last forever? No

Is the tech world moving too quickly for QR codes to survive? Probably

Do QR codes serve a purpose and can be used to market your business? Absolutely!

This blog is meant to embarrass the companies who have misused and abused these poor QR codes. We will also highlight the people who are doing it right! They deserve credit.

CASE 1: Tim Horton’s
Has anyone in Canada heard of Tim Horton’s? They serve coffee, compete with Starbucks and have thousands of locations around the country. They do everything pretty well… except for using QR codes properly. I get it, scan and take 2 minutes of your time to do a survey on the service. But if you take a look at where you arrive on your phone, you will see the sad truth: Text is small, the page is moving and fields are hard to touch. Take a look for yourself and tell us if this is something you would really like to see.

Peel Street never sleeps. Insomnia dwells there for well over 45 years. And that’s because of a widely renowned tavern called The Peel Pub – a favourite watering place for anyone ready to join the party vibe from dawn till dusk, or gathering with the sports fans in an incendiary atmosphere while watching the big game on up to 30 screens. Drinks, wings and fresh beer encompass the cavalcade of fun.

Lately, MobilizeMe designed and implemented a new characteristic or concept in the Peel Pub’s image: the mobile environment in the new mobile era. In order to ensure a perpetual communication between Peel Pub and its clients and connect a traditional tavern with the new generations – MobilizeMe migrate the brand from the static to the on-the-go visibility, boosting the exposure of Peel Pub’s market events.

Using an avant-garde like and friendly user design, based mostly on buttons instead of vertically divided screen, the Peel Pub’s mobile web-page is structured principally to emphasize promotions and sport events. The Loyal Card button, for instance – allows the client to become a Mobile Loyalty member, therefore the beneficiary of the Peel Pub’s exclusive offers.
Check the mobile web-site on your smart-phone browse www.peelpubmontreal.com – or scan the QR Code.

Montreal, QC – January 23, 2012 – MobilizeMe.com, the Canadian Mobile marketing firm is pleased to announce the creation of the mobile site for the Executive MBA Program at the John Molson School of Business (JMSB).

As Quebec most established Executive MBA Program, “We are thrilled to be partnering with a highly regarded program so they may provide strategic dynamic mobile solutions to market the Executive MBA to the new mobile consumer.” said Karim Jeraj, MobilizeMe CEO.

The Mobile site will allow users to learn about the Executive MBA, view videos, share or book appointments, and more, from anywhere with their smart phone.
